The short answer

Alwena's hidden trigger is zero available knights when you enter the Round Table. An empty roster seat is not enough. Send every knight you currently have on an assignment that remains active, then return to the Round Table while nobody is available to deploy. Alwena can step out of the Intendancy and offer to join.

Empty seat vs zero available knights

These two states look similar but are mechanically different:

Round Table stateDoes it satisfy the known trigger?
One open roster seat, with another knight idleNo
Several open seats, with at least one knight availableNo
Existing knights all away on active tasksYes, this is the documented setup

You do not need to dismiss or kill your roster. The safe method is ordinary deployment.

Step by step

1. Wait until Act II or III

Use a point where Alwena is present as Intendant and you have enough concurrent assignments to occupy your roster. Community reports verify the event in both Acts II and III. Reports differ on the earliest possible moment, so this guide avoids turning an uncertain Act I claim into a route requirement.

2. Keep a Round Table seat open

Alwena still needs room to become a knight. Check your Act's current roster capacity before sending everybody away. Public guides describe the Round Table expanding across Acts, but capacity alone is not the hidden trigger.

3. Send every available knight out

Choose assignments whose durations keep all your knights occupied when you next open the Round Table. If a one-cycle task resolves before the trigger check, that knight may already be available again.

You are aiming for a simple observable state: the deployment screen has no selectable knight.

4. Return to the Round Table

Enter the Round Table while the full roster is away. Alwena should present the retirement-related audience that leads to her candidacy. Accept her into the roster to complete the recruit condition associated with the official Brizh's Legend achievement.

If Alwena does not appear

  • One knight is still idle. Check the whole roster, not only visible chairs.
  • A short assignment already ended. Use longer overlapping tasks or adjust the order in which you resolve events.
  • There is no roster capacity. “No available knight” and “no open seat” are different problems.
  • You are attempting it too early. Current evidence is dependable for Act II/III, not Act I.
  • You moved past the audience without accepting. Rewind to a point before the zero-availability setup and recreate it.

What changes after recruitment

The Intendancy remains usable after Alwena becomes a knight. Recruiting her does not remove that part of the interface.

Alwena has an important deployment restriction: public guides report that she normally accepts tasks with a base duration of one cycle. A duration reduction can make some otherwise longer assignments eligible. Read the final displayed duration rather than assuming that every two-cycle task is permanently closed to her.

Her favorite foods include Crêpe and Brizhian Butter Shortbread. As with every meal, those bonuses apply after recruitment; they do not cause the retirement event.

Common mistakes

  • Treating a vacant chair as the trigger.
  • Leaving a reserve knight idle in case another event appears.
  • Using tasks that resolve before the next Round Table check.
  • Assuming Alwena's recruitment disables the Intendancy.
  • Promising that the method works in Act I based on an isolated account.
  • Reading her one-cycle restriction as an absolute ban after duration modifiers.

Evidence limits

This guide was checked for version 1.0.8 on August 11, 2026. Alwena's retired-knight identity is official; zero available knights, Act timing, continued Intendancy access, and the task-duration limit come from multiple current guides and player reports. Act I remains unconfirmed here.
