The short answer

To unlock How Cute! — Find a suitable pet for Arron, keep Arron out of the earlier Dragon Heart transformation, reach the young-dragon situation in Moonvale during Act III, choose the empathetic solution, send Arron on the new task, and agree when he asks to keep the dragon.

Step by step

1. Keep Arron in his normal pre-Dragon-Heart state

The most important decision happens before Moonvale. Do not complete the violent Dragon Heart transformation for Arron if your current target is How Cute!.

Steam lists a separate official achievement, A Change of Heart, for the other transformation branch. That supports treating the two outcomes as deliberate alternatives rather than assuming the pet can always be added later.

2. Reach Moonvale in Act III

Progress until the Act III Moonvale event involving a young dragon. At the decision, take the response based on empathy and preservation rather than killing the creature. This opens the alternative assignment needed for Arron's route.

3. Send Arron on the resulting task

Assign Arron even if the interface suggests that he dislikes the task. The dedicated illustrated guide identifies his deployment as necessary for the special outcome. Sending a more enthusiastic knight may complete the regional task but does not satisfy Arron's achievement path.

4. Let Arron keep the dragon

After the task resolves, Arron asks to keep the young dragon. Agree. This is the choice that completes the pet result and awards How Cute! according to the official achievement goal and current route guides.

The result also gives Arron the Dragon Knight trait. Sources describe it as broadly helpful on assignments, with a stronger combat benefit, but this guide does not publish a precise score formula that has not been independently verified.

If all four conditions are true, you are following the documented achievement route.

What the pet changes

The dragon becomes a lasting part of Arron's configuration and the route grants the Dragon Knight trait. Community material describes the pet as occupying one of Arron's equipment positions, but sources use both weapon and relic when naming that position.

That trade-off should be visible before you confirm the pet. The achievement and new trait are real benefits, but the route is not a free cosmetic addition.

If Arron already ate the Dragon Heart

Do not keep advancing Moonvale and hope the same sequence will reverse him. Current guides do not document an in-place undo at that point.

Your supported options are:

  • rewind to a cycle before the Dragon Heart decision if it is within the available range; or
  • take the pet route in a later timeline.

Rewind preserves learned information and Archetype progress, while later events are recalculated. Read how Demon Power works before choosing how far to go back.

Common mistakes

  • Completing the Dragon Heart transformation before Moonvale.
  • Choosing to kill the young dragon.
  • Sending a knight other than Arron because he appears to dislike the assignment.
  • Declining his request to keep the pet.
  • Treating the Dragon Knight result as Arron's only “good” ending.
  • Assuming the pet adds no equipment trade-off.

Evidence limits

This route was checked for Sovereign Tower 1.0.8 on August 11, 2026. Steam officially confirms the How Cute! and alternative A Change of Heart achievements. The step sequence is supported by a dedicated illustrated guide and an independent character guide. Exact Dragon Knight score values and the UI's slot label remain outside the verified boundary.
