The short answer
Continue through the early campaign until the Forge appears around the Cycle 2 flow. The Forge has two documented purposes: repairing damaged armor and buying equipment for knights.
Patch 1.0.8 lowered both the initial armor-repair cost and later repair costs. The official patch notes do not publish a universal price formula, so compare the price shown in your current save rather than relying on an older fixed number.
What the Forge actually changes
Armor is a knight's protective resource. Repairing it is not the same as healing every injury, raising a core attribute, improving Affinity, or changing a quest's narrative prerequisite.
| Forge action | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Repair armor | Restore the selected knight's damaged armor in exchange for gold |
| Buy equipment | Acquire available gear to equip on a knight |
| Patch 1.0.8 change | Lower initial and subsequent armor-repair costs |
| Not established | A single permanent price, complete item database, or guaranteed quest result |
Step by step
1. Progress into the early Cycle 2 sequence
The direct Cycle 2 walkthrough shows the Forge becoming available during the early tower expansion flow. If it is not yet accessible, continue the current audiences and tower progression rather than searching the starting interface for a hidden repair button.
The official Steam page also identifies the Forge as one of the tower annexes, confirming that it is a campaign facility rather than an external crafting menu.
2. Select the knight who has damaged armor
Open the Forge and identify the knight whose armor value actually needs restoration. Do not infer damage only from a failed quest: failure can come from score, a missing item, a story condition, or the wrong assignment.
Write down or visually compare the current armor number before paying. This turns an uncertain result into a simple before-and-after check.
3. Review the displayed cost
Use the price in your current version. Patch 1.0.8 explicitly reduced the first repair and later repairs, which makes pre-patch screenshots and cost tables stale.
There is not enough official evidence to publish a formula based on repair count, damage amount, knight, or equipment. A precise number without a reproducible current test would be false confidence.
4. Repair and verify
Confirm the repair, then reopen or recheck the knight's armor value. If gold decreased and armor increased, the transaction completed.
If gold decreased but the armor value did not change—or briefly changed and reverted—stop repeating the purchase. Capture the knight, assignment state, before/after values, game version, and whether the knight was currently assigned. Those details make a useful bug report and protect the rest of your treasury.
5. Separate repair from equipment choice
Buying equipment and restoring armor solve different problems. Equipment can contribute capabilities to a task, while repair restores a depleted defensive resource. Neither action substitutes for a required story branch or the correct recruit.
If armor repair does not work
Two older community reports describe repair values reverting or coins being consumed without armor recovery. One report specifically reproduced a failure when the knight was not assigned, in version 1.0.6.
For version 1.0.8, use this safe diagnostic order:
- Confirm the game is updated to 1.0.8 or later.
- Record the current gold and armor values.
- Confirm the intended knight is selected and note whether they are assigned.
- Make one repair attempt.
- Recheck both values before changing screens or ending the cycle.
- If it fails, avoid repeated payments and report the reproducible state through the game's official community channel.
This page does not label the old report as a confirmed current bug because no reviewed official note says it remains present.
Common mistakes
- Searching for the Forge before its early campaign unlock.
- Treating quest failure as proof that armor is damaged.
- Using an old fixed cost after patch 1.0.8 changed repair pricing.
- Paying repeatedly without checking whether armor increased.
- Assuming an equipment purchase automatically repairs armor.
- Calling a 1.0.6 player report a guaranteed 1.0.8 bug.
Evidence limits
This guide was checked for Sovereign Tower 1.0.8 on August 12, 2026. The official store confirms the Forge and equipment systems, the official patch confirms lower repair costs, and a direct Cycle 2 walkthrough places the facility in early progression. Repair-failure behavior comes only from older player reports and is presented as troubleshooting evidence, not current confirmed behavior.
